There is now plenty of documentation out there on Cell. I’m going to recommend that you read one of the original papers published in the IBM Journal of Research and Development and perhaps the short HPCA paper. If you’re really interested you should take a look at the manuals available at http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/power/cell/docs_hardware.html (specifically the architecture document).
