Lecture Scribing Instructions

Taking notes during class is important, however, when everyone is engrossed in writing little discussion and conversation can take place. Therefore, in each class, a single student will be a scribe who will take notes for everyone. After class, the notes will be reviewed by the instructors and then made available through the wiki for the entire class to contribute to. Remember though that these are class notes and not a discussion board. Make sure your edits reflect what happened in class, and restrict all discussion to the discussion page linked at the bottom of every class notes page. Think of the scribe notes as what you would want to read if you missed a class and tried to catch up. Again, this is not an encyclopedia page :-).

Using the wiki is pretty easy and there are buttons on top and some instructions at the bottom of the edit page. The PmWiki program, which we are using has a whole bunch of plug-ins called recipes. There is a link in the sidebar describing the recipes currently installed.

Finally, don’t delete the comments and edits of others (I can and will check on this with a history feature that you cannot access). If you think something is incorrect, just make your own correcting comments.
